I am so happy you were able to connect with some of the Red and Pink Hatters in your area. It's a great social organization for women to regress to the carefree young girls hidden within their souls.. and share , care and enlighten other ladies lives with a their red hat ways!
You too may like to join a red hat chapter.. just go to www.redhatsociety.com and look for a chapter near by you! Many chapters are "customized" to fit the chapter's creator, (better known as the QM / Queen Mother) of the chapters desires and interests. One of my chapterette's is a writer also... one a social worker, a librarian, teacher, cashier, nailtech, minister , the wife of a City Mayor... all walks of life.
Sue Ellen ( resides in California now) and a college friend of her's Linda ( resides in Florida now) .. were going to lunch. It was Linda's birthday.. so Sue Ellen found a red hat.. and gifted it to Linda.. they dressed in Red Hats and purple clothes and went to lunch.. the rest is history !
Millions of ladies are members of the Red Hat Society.. world wide. It was officially organized for ladies world wide to come together.. and they have!
So jump in.. and enjoy the social aspects of The Red Hat Society.. it is said there are no rules.. but, there are a few! We wear our "colour's" of Red Hats and Purple Clothes.. our regalia.. of lots of bling.. feathers.. and we have fun! We do charge due's to join the organization.. and Queen's pay to start a chapter.. but it is all minimal charges. There are local gatherings, State gatherings (in USA) and World Wide Gatherings.. such as the New Years Parade in England coming up 2009.
If you have trouble finding a chapter, contact RHS better known as Hatquarters.. in California.. 800 #, they will be glad to help you out!
Happy Hatting !

Red Hatters are fun. That is the whole idea of the club. No committees, dues, etc. Most of us just go to lunch, dressed in our 'gorgeous' outfits. There is a poem by Jenny Joseph called 'Warning" written many years ago, picked up by a lady in Texas I believe. She started a fad by giving a red hat to friends when they turned 50 . And like Topsy it just grew.
